Learnings & Experiences

I've had the opportunity to get involved in different roles and learn different skills through my years at Revenue Monster involving in both software engineering and product building. Below is each role, followed by what the work actually involved.

Selected work

What the work was actually about

Five threads running through the roles above — pulled together here rather than repeated role by role.

01

Scale & Leadership

Growing and running a technology organization inside a regulated business.

  • Manage 20+ developers across six entities — frontend, backend, and DevOps.
  • Author IT policy for the Group and act as the key technical voice in bank due-diligence engagements.
  • Evaluated and introduced new technology into the payment platform, contributing to a 30% gain in stability and a 40% cut in cost.
02

Key Partnerships

Delivering alongside the institutions and enterprises that depend on the platform.

  • Worked with Visa Global to bring the Visa Offering Platform into the Revenue Monster Merchant Portal, giving merchants a multi-channel loyalty rewards system.
  • Delivered projects with YTL, Axiata Boost Biz, Genting Malaysia, Hong Leong Assurance, Tunas Manja Group, and Selangkah — spanning modernization strategy, architecture, and Bank Negara Malaysia compliance.
03

Compliance & Trust

Earning the certifications and status that let the business handle real money.

  • Led the payment team to PCI DSS Level 1 certification, clearing the way for card-scheme business and Mastercard Payment Facilitator status.
  • Led the technical redevelopment of the TaPay eWallet, working with Compliance to satisfy Central Bank inquiries and secure Eligible E-Money Issuer status.
  • Own most IT security and compliance matters for the company, including SIEM and File Integrity Monitoring implementation.
04

Platform & Architecture

Rebuilding the payment gateway to hold up under scale.

  • Redesigned transaction processing around a workflow orchestration engine (Temporal), removing distributed-processing bottlenecks and eliminating silently dropped payment orders.
  • Introduced GoBig, a Golang microservice connecting the platform to a data lake, cutting manual work for the operations team.
  • Deployed ArgoCD and provisioned Kubernetes, database clusters, and monitoring stacks Group-wide.
